June 4 - basement ceiling ... check

Ah. It feels good when a project is completed. I'm saying that it's completed even though I should still, at some point, do the ceiling in the pantry closet at the bottom of the stairs. It's a real pain though since I have to remove the shelves (and contents) to get inside. Since I have leftover material I'll likely do that omce we're back from Florida late June. That would be a good time to "houseclean" that closet.

Yesterday's work was mostly the bedroom closet. Also, I had left the last little chore until the end -- inserting a piece of wall angle along the edge of the boxed-in beam. That sounds simple, but it wouldn't stay in place. I thought of glue, but there was no way to clamp it. I finally hit upon drilling a tiny hole through the T and the wall angle and inserting a small coloured panel nail -- white naturally -- that nicely does the job. A half-dozen of those later and I was finished. It's not pro-level work ... but then again, I've seen a lot of crappy pro jobs. It's good work, just that the "sheet metal" work is not as neat as I'd like.

I also hauled some of the garbage that had accumulated in the basement up to the garage. That sounds simple but up and down the hill, up and down the hill, ... you get the idea. I understand why my Dad, with his bad knees, always drove the ATC around. I don't need to bike for exercise around here. I still have a bunch of cardboard downstairs that will go up when Sandy makes her next trip to Sudbury since she'll take it for recycling.

Let's see ... anything else yesterday ... ah, I went fishing and got a couple of bites. I'm coming to the conclusion that the perch minnows ... in accordance with what Jim Matthews said ... are not that great. I had a dozen or so left and I gave them their freedom just a little while ago. I would have done a lot better trolling, but I enjoy still fishing more. While I was freeing the perch, and draining the minnow keeper, I put the Whaler in the boathouse since we'll only be here one day next week and then we're off for more than two weeks.

Sandy was in Sudbury again yesterday for a physio appointment but back early since there was no point in doing a lot of grocery shopping. We had chicken breasts for dinner, with beans and leftover rice. It's a good meal. We didn't go away hungry.

This morning ... I'm organizing and packing my biking stuff for tomorrow's ride. I've setup my 8 pouches of Perpetuem; got a supply of electrolyte capsules; got spare batteries; oiled my drivetrain; organized my clothes ... just about ready. Next I have to pack non-biking clothes for Sunday. We'll leave here 10-11 a.m. Sandy wants to go to Sherway Gardens on the way to Stef's, but since we have Abby with us we may go to Stef's first. That will depend on our timing out of here. It's strange not leaving early -- I'm used to an early start.

Sandy booked a hotel in Erie PA for Tuesday. We'll drive there (7+ hours) and then to Leesburg VA (5+ hours) the next day ... Sandy will continue on to the Philly area afterwards, likely stopping at Jeffrey's, dropping Abby with Debbie and then going to Marda's. Oh -- that's right -- I think that she's going to see Mariadella that day too. She's got a busy schedule. All I do is ride my bike ... and eat.

That's about it. The forecast for tomorrow is pretty reasonable -- 13C overnight; 18C during the day; cloudy periods. I can take that. I particularly like the overnight -- not starting in the cold is a good thing. The forecast for Leesburg VA for next Thursday has overnight temperatures in the low 60's and daytime highs in the high 70's / low 80's. That's wonderful, however, I'll have to be prepared for anything though -- thunderstorms etc. -- that can change my clothing needs rapidly. Whatever ...

Time to get organized ...
