Nov 9 - on the road, yet again

We didn't hurry out of the house this morning, leaving at 11am. That's probably a record (late) for me ! Bonnie popped over before we left to borrow some freezer packs for her trip to Barrie to keep some pies frozen. Apparently jim had taken them all with him.

Even though we were leaving late; even though I already had everything done; even though ... well, we were pressed for time at 11am. The last thing that I did was something that Jason and I had discussed -- cut off the pipe at the one end of the wood shed so that I could get in and out. I'd already squeezed myself in twice and decided to bring up the reciprocating saw and do the deed. Since I could step in, I cut it off at one foot ... or tried to. After I'd quickly burned through the first blade I realized that the pipe was full of cement. Why ? Well, it wasn't completely full of cement -- only to about 1.5 feet. So, getting another blade since the first one had no teeth left, I cut my way around without hitting the concrete and then gave the pipe a firm tap with the sledge hammer and finished the job.

We left Indian Summer behind. Summer hit when we headed for Florida in September; this entire upcoming week is supposed to be beautiful up north. Here in the Toronto area the temperature was over 70F, definitely not typical November weather.

Tomorrow we head south into the teeth of hurricane / tropical storm Ida. It's hitting the Gulf Coast shortly and wrapping around, shedding moisture in a wide swath that will certainly encompass our first day destination just north of Charlotte and perhaps even NSB. We will have a wet few days ahead of us.

-------

It's 5:20 a.m. We're both up and eating breakfast, will likely be on the road before 6. I see from the Doppler that Ida is well inland at this point so we'll meet up with her sometime during the day, but it's just going to be rain by then.

Onward ...
