It's 12:47, and counting, and raining. It started raining about the same time as everyone got up ... is that a coincidence ?
The glass man has not come yet. He called earlier and said that he was delayed waiting for a helper (I could have helped ?) and that he'd be here by noon. Today. This time zone. Ok, I'm getting cynical.
Sara and Jeffrey want to go out, perhaps wander along Flagler, but the weather isn't exactly conducive. The line of rain keeps threatening to go by, but doesn't. It's good that we went to Disney yesterday because today wouldn't have been fun.
I've done a couple of things to while away the time. I installed a new kitchen faucet -- a Christmas present for Sandy that replaces the pull-out that I put in there three years ago and didn't replace when the kitchen was re-done. The one that I pulled out did not have a very high spout and made it difficult to get pots underneath. Yes, life is difficult here in the boonies. :).
I also installed an electrical receptacle by the circuit breaker panel in the garage. It's just beside the door to the house and I kept wanting to have a socket there, so now I have. I had to run the wire all of ... oh ... 6 inches behind the wall ... not too difficult ! When I was in HD the other day (Home Depot, not Harley Davidson), I had picked up an "old work" box to insert in the drywall. I celebrated having the receptacle by plugging the shop vac in and cleaning up the dust that I'd made cutting the hole.
Everyone save Sandy has just had lunch. She likes to eat later. I made a quick trip to the 7-11 and put gas in the X5, expecting to use one of the silly $50 rebate cards that I got when we got new cell phones. Well, they wouldn't work in the pump and so I used my Amex. Foiled again.
There are a couple of other things that I could do if the rain continues ... clean my bike from the 200km ride ... read a magazine ? I have some computer projects that I want to undertake, namely upgrading my version of Linux and Vmware, but don't want to tackle them now. I just know in my gut that they won't simply install and run without a number of hours of re-booting.
I'm shopped out, basically in "pause" mode on a number of fronts until we head north.
Later ...
--------
1:30 ... it must be noon somewhere. The glass men just arrived and are doing their thing. Hopefully it won't take long. Emma is crying, likely being kept awake by the glass men. She's supposed to be napping. Bad timing.
--------
Well, it was a complete inside day. Other than gas up the X5, I walked around the house once. I don't think that Jeffrey, Sara or Emma ever went outside. The rain did stop later but it remained wet and cool. It's dry today and even cooler -- 52F right now. The temperature heads up again for the weekend, but there's also some rain in the forecast -- scattered, isolated -- hopefully it doesn't hit us.
Jeffrey and Sara are going into Orlando today to one of the attractions. As of last night they hadn't decided yet. Emma will stay with us. I'll go for a Harley ride.
Having stayed inside all day that delivery did arrive. Included with the helmets were two jackets -- they have incredible prices, about 10% of that found at the Harley dealer, so I got both Sandy and me a jacket. That was part of my annoyance the other day since I meant to gift wrap Sandy's jacket. It fits her well and looks good ... I done good. That's probably the first time that I've ever bought clothes for her. I figured that for $60 I couldn't go too far wrong, and could return it anyway. I'm not quite as happy with the fit of mine, but I'll probably keep it. Being heavy it will be good for riding today, which I intend to do. This place also sells motorcycle jean jackets for under $20 ... probably another wise purchase for the spring when it gets warmer.
It took quite a while for the glass installation but they did an excellent job. The installers notched the trim around the seat, which I had requested but the store's owner didn't think would look good ... the installers said that the non-notched approach would have looked bad ... I love it. They also installed a "sweep" on the door. I've not used it yet -- not supposed to for 24 hours -- and I'm expecting that I won't be crazy about the sweep. It adds friction to the movement of the door and is really unnecessary. Water does not jet out under the door and since the curb itself is sloped inwards, nor does it flow under the door. We'll see ... we may ask them to remove that.
Otherwise there is not much to report. With J&S going to Orlando today, that leaves two more full days for them -- one of which will be the Segway-day and perhaps the other will be another boating day. Hopefully the weather will cooperate for both activities. Sometime over the weekend we'll go to the SYC. I might squeeze in a bike ride (cycle) on Monday, depending on their flight time. Tuesday we'll pack and cleanup ... Wednesday we'll hit the road. Thursday night we'll be in Oakville; Friday a.m. Sandy wants to get her hair done; Friday afternoon we'll be up north; Monday ... I think ... we head west ... I think. Sometime in there I need to get my hair cut too, probably here in FL.
Onward ! (since backward is impossible).
