Jul 25 - play it by ear

Another day flew by, this one occupied by some housecleaning (Sandy) and a bike ride (me). I also updated the Roads Board agenda and circulated that, spoke briefly to Mike (MTO) and arranged to catch up on Wednesday a.m. I fully expected to see Stef and Aaron on the road as I was coming back from my ride, but beat them here by about 1/2 hour. Quickly unloading luggage and Stef and Lauren, Aaron then left for Sudbury.

Still unsure of headcount for dinner, we decided to go ahead with the deep fried turkey. Perhaps I'll remember this for the next time ? or perhaps not ? but it took about 1/2 hour to heat the oil, perhaps a little longer and exactly 1 hour to cook the bird to perfection. Will I remember that the next time ? Will we have a 16 pound bird the next time ... who knows !

We originally thought that Aaron would be back for dinner but as it turned out, he wasn't back until about 1am. He'll have plenty of leftovers today. We spoke to David and Kim and they will likely be coming up today, so they've missed out on the turkey ... oh well. We had to make a decision at some point between the turkey and the salmon pie and turkey won out for yesterday. Today we'll have the salmon pie and something else tbd, since there isn't enough of the salmon for everyone. We'll have a smorgasbord !

I was a little worried that George might have a hard time negotiating the small sink-hole on Osprey Road, but it wasn't a problem at all. I'd gone out to meet them with the 4-wheeler, figuring that they'd arrive around 4pm, and sure enough, we met on 522 a few hundred yards from Osprey Road. Coming back, George surveyed the entrance to Donnie's driveway and concluded that it would be best to back in facing the other direction, so Geri took the Range Rover down to the house and George turned the coach around at the road's end, coming back to an easy entrance at Donnie's. It's too bad that our entrance and parking isn't as convenient !

So we now have four dogs. They are getting along very well, all lining up for treats together !
