Alex was due at noon so I busied myself with some computer-related chores as well as misc stuff outside.
It didn't really rain, but we did get some drizzle for a while. That didn't stop me from doing a few things -- I winterized the lake water pump, brought in the cushions from the gazebo, finished cleaning the eves troughs … that kind of stuff.
Alex ran a little late, getting here at 1pm. I'd already had lunch; he had eaten on the way up. We headed out to see if there were ducks "hanging out" anywhere, and there were. They were all pretty skittish though, taking flight from all the bays as we cruised around. At both Dollars Dams we found that the Ministry had put in new log booms, signage and hardware on the dams. The old logs were replaced with bright yellow plastic versions, probably there for a while but I hadn't seen them.
Water was still flowing through the dams, in spite of the fact that our water is so low. It will be interesting to see what the Environment Ministry will do once we do get a significant volume of rain. Will I still have a dock ? Will it turn into a deck ?
The rain held off, so we went out hunting before dinner. With decoys in Pondsfords Bay, where David and I had morning-hunted, we saw one flock of 14 ducks but they were too far away. We left the decoys in place for this morning's hunt, but it was pouring rain when we got up so we took a pass. It remains to be seen what the weather will be like for the next few days.
Sandy went into Sudbury, grocery shopping. She was back by the time we were finished our afternoon cruise-around. We had Coho Salmon for dinner, on the grill of course, Panko encrusted of course, with rice and roasted broccoli. We survived … we didn't starve.
Today … could be a pool day as in billiards. If there are breaks in the rain we might go out fishing, but we'll see. Today is supposed to be the worst day from a rain standpoint.
Onward !
