Yes, November is winding down. Another 200k Permanent approacheth. Please, please stay, good weather ... but it's not to be, I fear. Already a cold front has moved in !
Cold, however, is relative. It's 57F here this morning, 10F cooler than yesterday. The daytime temperature will be cooler as well ... but it's not too bad ... from the high 70's to the high 60's.
Yesterday, with rain all around, I puttered around the house. I did some deck work, power washing the side deck and then later putting on a coat of stain. Of course it got rained on, but I'm hopeful that it was dry enough to take.
We had an unexpected mid-day project ... the papaya tree fell over, weighed down by all that fruit. Try as we might we couldn't right it, even after cutting off most branches. We got it propped up within perhaps 10 degrees for vertical but it was turned, several major roots had been broken; it wasn't worth trying to save it. We now have a huge pile of partly ripe and completely green papayas. I have no idea whether they'll ripen or not but we'll give it a go.
Sandy wants to plant some hibiscus at the front of the house. The papaya was a bad idea; too large a tree too close to the house and with fruit hanging one sided, obviously not a good long-term plan. I had thought that the one heavy branch hanging out was going to break off by itself, never imagining that the entire tree would fall.
Rats. I should have propped it up but I was going to have to cut the tree back to the stump later anyway ...
I should have taken a picture of the tree on the ground but I was too distressed !

I got an automated call from FedEx saying that there would be a package delivered tomorrow (today) requiring signature. I looked up the tracking number and saw that a) it had already been delivered; b) it had been delivered to Wayne PA; c) it had been signed-for by Melissa Stoddard (they bought our house). Double Rats. I thought that one of us had ordered something and it had been delivered to an old address.
I still had Chris Stoddard's number so I called him. He said that he would call me back. While I was waiting, I called FedEx who insisted that the sender had supplied the phone number, a sender that I'd never used. They then told me that the addressee was Chris Stoddard, so, ok, it's not our package. They then admitted that perhaps, perhaps, FedEx had associated the address with the phone number and the fellow apologized.
There are some drawbacks to hanging onto your landline number when you move. FedEx isn't the only one that has our number tied to 101 Woods Lane -- we get calls from the township about floods, from "purple heart", the police association looking for donations, candidates looking for our vote ... sometimes it's a chuckle but sometimes it's annoying (the candidates).
Other than go to the gym, I didn't leave the house yesterday. Sandy made a couple of trips -- gym and groceries.
We had an Indian-style chicken recipe for dinner last night. It was excellent. My wife is a good cook !
In other news ... Sara will be going in shortly for another ultrasound where they will be looking for a heartbeat. How many fingers can YOU keep crossed at the same time ?
Today ... gym ... bike ... ???
Onward !
