Dec 31 - ringing in the new year

Yes, I actually watched the ball drop in Times Square. Yes, I cheated, having a snooze from 10:30 to 11:45.

It was a great day, albeit a gray day.  Stef arrived around 2pm so the family was complete.  Within a very short while they were all outside, taking advantage of the light to use the skating rink.

Jeffrey and David were out for a couple of hours on the ATC's, stopping at the dump and riding on the skidoo trails on the other side of the lake.  They returned by the same route, although I found that they could have crossed the lake, had they known, as we have 8" of ice most of the way across and some areas with 4" in the bay across from us where the skidoo bush trail joins the lake trail.

Once everyone was inside, I took advantage of the opportunity and took a family picture.  It's been a while since the last one, having missed the opportunity in 2010 when we were together for Jeffrey & Sara's wedding.  After the picture, we opened the remaining presents under the tree plus the ones from Stef.  People then spread out to the games downstairs and a video upstairs while preparations for dinner were underway.

We had fondue -- beef and pork; bread from the bread maker; salad.  Fireworks came next and then chocolate fondue.  I'm fondued out at this point !

I lost many minnows down my ice fishing holes but also cleaned two pike for dinner for another day.  I threw one back, being a little guy -- "come back next year".

I have no idea what the weather has in store for us today since I have a very low signal strength at this point and no internet service.  I have no idea when this blog will actually post ...

Onward !
