Dec 30 - winter travel

Winter travel is only for the determined & foolish at times.  Yesterday Stef & Aaron took the discretion approach with icy fog and roads and many accidents in the Toronto area.  The turkey wouldn't wait another day ... nor would the kids !  I don't know if they'll try again today.  Neither of them are keen drivers in these kinds of conditions.

Chase is now an honorary Canuck.  He ran the snowblower, helped me shovel the skating rink and brought in wood for the fire.  He played and played and played outside.  Emma was out as much as possible as was Megan.  David and Jeffrey ran the ATC's; Jeffrey gave everyone a turn driving with him as backup of course.  I do have pictures to post at some point.

The pool table and air hockey got a workout as well.

I went into town and picked up some groceries, coffee that had been delivered by Purolator and minnows.  I set out four ice fishing rigs but there was no action.  I'm sure that all the noise above -- kids playing and machines roaring -- didn't attract any fish.  I'll re-set those rigs this morning and see what today brings.

Before the turkey, we opened presents but of course many are still left under the tree for Stef, Aaron, Kylie, Lauren and Mya.  I also prepped the beef fondue for tonight in its red wine / soya sauce / oil marinade.

It looks like, from the signal strength, we have heavy cloud again.  There's no precipitation in the area although there are flurries south of us.  I expect today's weather to be much like yesterday's -- below freezing temperatures without sun.   Tomorrow is supposed to nudge above freezing for a bit and then plunge into a deep freeze again.

Onward ... I'll now for sure what the weather has been once the day is over :).
