Jan 19 - overkill but hey !

As I wrote to Jason, the definition of overkill.

The galvanized pipe sticking into the PVC drain is simply to keep it plugged until I screw in the brass nipple + bushing and attach the drain hose. The water flows from right to left, the existing hot water in the copper pipe behind and higher than the cold water pipe. The lowest valve is the bypass, in place now. The water supply for the tank can either come from the cold on the left or the hot on the right. The hot water tank inlet will connect to the upper copper pipe screw connection and the outlet to the one in the middle.

The picture doesn't show all the wiring that I did ... which took less time but by then I was getting a bit frantic from working in the small space all day.

Whew.

------

It's morning again. Friday morning to be exact. Tomorrow I've got a 200k Brevet on the agenda, from Jupiter FL where the temperature is supposed to hit 80F, the last I checked.

Yesterday, however, it did not even hit 70F. I'm not sure that it hit 60F ! It was in the mid 50's when I left on my bike and about the same when I returned. It was warm enough in the sun, but I certainly needed my long sleeved jersey and wind vest to stay warm.

I took the Hummer, with a jacket in the back, thinking that I'd probably want to shed the wind vest at the turnaround point and if was too cold, put on the jacket ... but as it turned out I did neither. I was cool on the way up and comfortable on the way back.

I had a headwind going north and it was calm going south. In fact, it was so calm that when I got home and looked out at the Intracoastal Waterway, it was like glass. The dolphins were having a blast ... cruising along with their dorsal fins out of the water -- just like Jaws ! I could see a baby doing side flips !

I spent a goodly time yesterday doing some garage organizing. That was sparked by the mess on my workbench, which was adorned with every tool that I'd used to do the plumbing and electrical, piled up.

The hw heater has been shipped from Home Depot in MD, due to arrive on Monday. Now we wait. I'm also expecting Control Arms etc. for the car to arrive shortly. I think that I'll finish up the plumbing first, since it's closer to fruition.

That's about it ... oh yes, we had chicken breasts on the grill and sauteed zucchini and rice.

Onward !
