Jerry, Hamid and I finished at 10:25, for a time of 19:25, which shaves almost an hour off last year's time, for me.
We were drizzled on at various times and blown about all the time. At predicted 20-30 mph, even at night, it's the windiest Central Florida 400k or 600k that I've experienced. We had a very windy Gainesville ride a couple of years ago ... at least the 400k and 600k CFL rides are in hilly areas which reduces the effect somewhat.
Part of the reason for the hour-better is that we rode with the first group through most of the first 100 miles. At that point the group fractured. Jerry dropped back and I slowed down to let him catch up. We did catch the lead group at the lunch stop -- 113 miles -- but at the end of the ride they were 1:40 ahead of us.
No complaints from this end ... at least we didn't get any heavy rain. As usual I was pretty tired at the end; Jerry and I stopped at Burger King to replenish before driving home and got back here around 12:30 a.m.
That's it ...
Onward !
