Wow. Was that easy. Push in spring clip, remove electrical connector. Press tabs and pull out sensor. Replace o-ring. Reinsert sensor. Reattach electrical connector.
I really won't know for a couple of weeks whether or not this fixes the problem, the leak was so minor, but from the resistance pushing the sensor back in vs resistance with the old o-ring, there's a definite difference.
Of course BMW doesn't sell the o-ring separately ... you have to buy the sensor complete with o-ring. Duh.
I had incorrectly called that sensor the coolant temperature sensor. It does that, but only to trigger the operation of the auxiliary electrical fan. There's another sensor that provides the coolant temperature reading to the dashboard display. With all the electronics in these engines, it's strange that this separate switch is necessary.

We went boating, a wonderful warm sunny day. We cruised out on the ocean for a while and then back to the island. Moderately busy, it still wasn't hard to find a spot to park the boat. We went for a good long walk; Abby had a blast chasing minnows and rolling around on the sand.
After a time, we headed back, going to the SYC and having a beer/glass of wine. The Tiki was busy, as was the pool.
The ocean was warm -- 75F and the pool warmer. We're ready for Emma to enjoy :). Both will be warmer by the time they arrive.
It was Stef's birthday; I called and left a message shortly after we got home at 4pm. We tried again around 6pm and got her "live".
We had shrimp for dinner along with rice (white) and sauteed zucchini. Let's see ... I then had a salad and some raisin bran, dry, as I sometimes do.
Today I'll get back on the bike. The wind is still blowing from the East so I'm not sure if I'll head north or south.
Onward ... !
