That was the end of the day ... the start was much less dramatic.
I was slow out of the gate but did do a 200k to Palm Shores and back. Let me clarify that -- 200k total in 7:49. The wind was favorable on the return but I'd worked my butt off on the way south into the headwind ... and ... it was hot. Still, I was not unhappy with that time.
I did the ATM routine for the first time, getting receipts from and ATM at all three points. I find that easier than "asking for a favor" from the store clerk or indeed, in the case of the starting/ending 7-11, buying a sticky bun since they don't have bagels.
Now it's time to setup those Populair's ... the under 200k rides that I need both north and south, abbreviated from the existing Permanents.
Our visitors had a wonderful trip with everything on time, luggage first off, nice people who let them sit together etc. Sandy was there to pick them up although she'd been shopping for the previous 3 hours hitting both outlet malls as well as the Mall of Millenia.
I think that I've got the plan for this week straight -- tomorrow (Sunday), they're going to Disney as well as Wednesday. They'll meet their friends the Kerbers. From the weather forecast, Monday looks like a good boating day. So far that's it ...
Dinner last night, for me, was "drink plenty of fluids" along with a ham sandwich and a variety of veggies. Sandy apparently had pizza somewhere in Orlando.
RUSA put out two new awards yesterday -- the Explorers award for those having ridden in or through 10 or more States and a pewter mug for those having hit 5000km + one of each kind of even on the RUSA calendar. I easily qualified for the Explorer's award, having already hit 12 States, so I submitted that request. As for the mug, the Fleche on April 7th plus I need a Populaire (one of those sub-200k rides that I have yet to setup) within a 2 year period will do the job.
Onward ?
That's it ... I think ...
Onward !
