It was another cold one. The "lowlight"of the day was Peak to Creek, which they'd groomed the entire way and was listed as the "run of the day". Being Saturday, it was a little busy at the bottom so we opted to do a few runs before heading to the Peak Chair to do this run. By the time we got up to the peak, we were both chilled and after this long run -- a full mile vertical drop and several miles long -- I couldn't feel my fingers, even though I'd stopped several times on the way down. We went into our condo for lunch, which, as Sandy commented, doesn't quite have the same atmosphere as the chalet, but was warm.
By the time I finished eating my lunch, feeling was coming back into my fingers. It was foolish to get that cold. I had to soak them in hot water to fully get the feeling back and stop the tingling.
Up again, we did another run or two and then Sandy went in, intending to warm up before heading down. I did a couple of runs off Harmony, entering at #2 and enjoying the steep and deep. I decided to do another Peak to Creek, planning on heading up again for a final run somewhere.
Partway down close to the top, skiing on the left hand side of the run, another skier cut straight across the run and rode across my skis, doing some damage to the the binding on the right ski. That stopped me, or rather my skis, in their tracks, but not me. I went flying as did my skis and poles. He didn't even stop. I was 30' or so down the hill. I landed on my right shoulder and have either bruised the muscles or pulled the rotator cuff, not sure. I don't think that it's as bad as many many years ago when I hurt it on Jay Peak and had to have physio, but we'll see. This time I won't leave it as long. If I have any limited range of movement when I get back to Florida, I'll do something about it.
I think that the binding is ok. I did ski the rest of the way down but having lost the wind out of my sails, so to speak, and feeling a little shaky, I called it a day. It was close to 3pm anyway, the most that I'd have gotten was one more run.
Today is supposed to be warmer. I'm hoping that any soreness in my shoulder/bicep/tricep doesn't ruin my day.
I went to Mass at 5pm then came back and picked up Sandy. We went into the Village and ate at Kypriaki's, a Greek restaurant that we'd tried last time here, four years ago. I had lamb; Sandy had duck. We ate well. We started with calamari.
Just out of curiosity I did a search to see if I'd noted this restaurant the last time we were here, and I did. The following is my note from four years ago ... see, the blog is useful ! I was again drawn to the Moussaka but had the lamb.
On the 13th we ventured further south -- from Italy to Greece -- Kypriakis, another restaurant that we have never tried. Sandy started with a Greek salad and had a perfectly prepared piece of Halibut with oven roasted veggies. My initial choice was the lamb shank but then I was drawn to the Moussaka. They were out of Moussaka -- how could a Greek restaurant not have eggplant/zuccini/mashed potatoes ? -- so I went back to my original choice, the menu of the day -- lobster & squash bisque; Greek salad; lamb shank. It was wonderful ! I'm glad that they were out of Moussaka.
Onward. I'll have to check more of the four-year-old blog for the next restaurant so that I don't duplicate my meal !
