Jan 13 - Whistler 5 of 8

It was a mixed bag.   My shoulder gave me some trouble, more keeping me off-balance than actually hindering my skiing ability; it was cold, so we were in and out of the chalets; the sun was out mostly, except for late in the day as it clouded over; the snow was still good, settled now; there were essentially no lift lines.

We skied top to bottom a couple of times -- the Downhill and Franz's; Tokum several times; the Burnt Stew, aka Sun bowl; Harmony Horseshoe # 2; the Saddle ... forgetting some, we got lots of vertical.  Sandy quit a bit earlier than me so I got an extra top-to-bottom and Tokum.  At that point the high cloud was moving in and vis was getting flat so I quit.  It was around 3pm, Sandy was just getting back from the hot tub.  Had she not gone yet, I'd have probably joined her.  Perhaps the heat would help the shoulder.

I took the ski over to the CanSki ski repair shop to have them look at the binding and confirm that it wasn't going to self-destruct while I was skiing.  They agreed.  Early in the day the shoulder hurt skiing just from the little shocks but that diminished over the day.  I think that it's settling down to certain angles and positions, time will tell whether I need physio to fix any painful points in the arc.

It's a bit hard looking at this picture but you can see that the binding rail has been broken off and damage to the top right edge of the ski right there.  Further up, the top right edge to the right of the "O" in Voikl, there's more damage.

This is my right ski.  Picture me going down the hill and the other skier crossing from right to left across my skis.  That stops the skis but not me; I keep going.   I was going fast; he (assume that it was he) was going a lot faster.

This is as close as I'd ever want to get to a full-tilt, full-on collision.

There's nothing new on the house front; we now await the appraisal.  If it doesn't pan out, I'm not negotiating the price down.  Sharon thinks that it shouldn't be a problem.

We were flipping TV channels and ran into the Golden Globes, starting earlier here than on the East Coast.  We watched that for a long time, cutting into our planned shopping time in the Village, or, rather, eliminating our shopping time.  We really didn't want to go shopping anyway :).  Perhaps we'll go today when it's warmer.

Speaking of warmer, it's now -3C in the alpine and -8C in the village.  The prediction is above freezing up top so for the first time we won't be cold.  In fact we'll likely be too warm !  You can't win.

We went to Royal Taste of India for dinner and at well.  We always love Indian food but it takes a while to figure out what to order.   We needed Alnasir & Nimet !

Onward ...
