Apr 15 - the ides of April

It was a sad day yesterday with the bombing at the Boston Marathon.  Two people we know who run it -- Stacey Rohrbeck and my cousin Kelly Tomenson Haas are both ok -- Stacey running slower this year because she's already qualified for next year and Kelly having to skip the year for surgery.   The world changed on 9/11 and this is a stark reminder.

Mary has a chipped tooth so the first order of the day yesterday was getting her a dentist appointment.  That's at 9:50 today.  We went over to CVS so that she could get some mouthwash to tackle the now-lacerated tongue, keep it from getting infected.  Sandy's having some medical troubles of her own, getting her annual mammogram scheduled.  Things have gotten messed up in the move from Winter Park (Orlando) to here with our Doctor's move.

We did a bit of an area tour yesterday, driving down to the end of the Canaveral National Seashore and then visiting with Riley and Dolly at their house on the beach.  They've done a really nice job but we think that Dolly would still like to be here on Keely.   Lucky for us they decided to move !  It goes to show you how one person's decision has a ripple effect widening, ever widening.

I roasted a whole chicken on the barbie last night for dinner, great as always.  I should get a spit for the barbie up north.  Chicken, corn, mashed sweet potatoes and green beans ... no, we didn't go hungry.  Tonight's plan is the leek and salmon pie with Harris and Debbie joining us.

Abby got her daily walk, now "as usual".  She's getting used to it as well, trotting along and knowing where we turn, getting confused if I make one wrong turn :).  We stopped to chat with Harris on the way back.

I had arranged a conference call with Jim Griffin, Vaune Davis and Kathy Brouse to talk about the Granite Anvil overnight stops and food.  We did that at 8pm.  We're now four months from the ride ... things will start to heat up, and so will the weather !

We think that our plans for this week are set -- today around the house because we've got some appointments; tomorrow very early, I'm on the bike and then we're going boating; Thursday to Disney; Friday around here; Saturday to the 600k for me, to Vancouver for Mary and John.  Time will fly by.

That's it ...

Onward !
