Apr 5 - odds and sods

I ...

-- organized my hotel room in Tavares for the 600k two weeks from now
-- packed my cycling stuff for this 600k
-- got the car ready
-- changed the oil in the car
-- watched the rain come and go (and more is coming)
-- loaded up my Garmin with the route; printed off the cue sheet; organized my ipods
-- traded a million emails with Hamid re London-Edinburgh-London
-- traded emails regarding my custom insoles, better than nothing but not perfect
-- traded emails with Stef as they search Ontario looking for their next home
-- ordered another long sleeved jersey, did online chat with performance bike because the website was screwing up, charging me extra for 2-day delivery when it shouldn't.  I almost ordered another helmet but didn't.  I had to throw away my red one after the crash on the Gainesville 200k.

On that last one, it's amazing what you can do these days.  She said (PB online chat = Melissa) -- it will be adjusted as you checkout ... it wasn't ... she said -- it will be adjusted in the confirmation email ... we waited ... it wasn't ... she said -- it will be adjusted before it's charged to amex ... I checked the amex site and I was charged the full amount ... she said -- we've been told to refund it to you  ... what is this, keep coming up with answers until the customer finally gives up ?  Of course I copy/pasted the entire chat exchange into an email so if there's any doubt as to whether I'm getting $9.99 back, I can deal with that too !  Don't fool around with retirees !!!!

I wonder if her name is really Melissa ?  I wonder where in the world she is ? I wonder if it's really a she ??

The trouble with Performance Bike now of course is that they've opened up stores in Florida.  The first one open is in Ft. Lauderdale.  They've not opened the expected one in Winter Park yet (that's close to here).  That means that I get charged tax.  All of a sudden Excel Sports out of Boulder CO has an edge.  Besides, when I deal with Excel I always get a knowledgeable person.

I'm heading down to Jupiter tonight after dinner.  It's about 2.5 hours away.

After this weekend I have to finish my taxes.  That won't take long, just a final review and assembly and write a check !

I don't really think that I'll have much more to say about today, so I'll post this.

Onward ... 600k-ward ...
