May 7 - dye job

We're still waiting to see Jim Brendel to talk about the kitchen work, so we're sort of on pause with our reno plans.  Kirby Carpenter came over and looked at the work and isn't interested -- he doesn't do textured finish.

I had John first thing in the morning, since it was Tuesday.  I'm making good progress, it seems, but there are limits.

My appointment with the ortho was for 11:40.  At 12:35, thinking about when I was simply going to leave, I was taken into an examination room.  Almost 20 minutes later, I was giving the good doctor 3 minutes to show up or I was leaving.  He arrived; I didn't say anything.  There was no point.  I don't expect that he even knows my appointment time.  He just sees patients as they're brought to him.

Anyway, we talked -- yes, some improvement; no, not "all better".  He said that he would inject dye and do another x-ray to see what was going on.

Long story short, the dye clearly shows that I have a full thickness tear (clear to him), i.e. the rotator cuff ligament is no longer attached at the end.  The dye went into all sorts of places that it shouldn't.

Nothing will happen between now and September.  We'll be gone.  I'll even have to come back to see him just to have the prescription for an MRI re-done, since it doesn't last that long.  In the meantime, I'll keep doing what I'm doing -- exercise and stretching -- to keep mobile and mostly pain-free for daily activities.  I'll see what it's like when we get back.  I'll want a second opinion, from someone who specializes in shoulders -- after the MRI.

... and then ... Kirby came over around 3pm.

I roasted a chicken on the rotisserie for dinner.  That was good, as always.  Now that I'm into doing these chickens, I'm regretting that neither of our grills up north have a broiler burner.

Northward.  We leave on Monday.
