May 9 - another Jason

The day ended with a houseguest.  Harris and Debbie called to say that there was a Warm Showers "kid" who was nearby looking for a possible place to stay and could we help.  They're in Sebring FL for the weekend. 

It was after 8:30 -- heck, almost my bed time ! -- but sure, why not.  They said that he was prepared to camp in the yard, if need be.  Well, I figured that I'd size him up and make that decision as to where he would sleep once I met him.

He was at the McD's on US 1, not far from here.  In fact, it's right at the border with Edgewater.  He's got four broken spokes on 26" wheels, huge tires and a stretched out bike with paniers all around which include tent etc.  He's well equipped to camp, even has cooking stuff. 

I drove down, we unloaded the bike and then loaded the bike into the car.  I had to drive home with the hatch open, but it's not far.  Introductions all around, clean up and then chat. 

He's from Austin TX, on his way to Miami to see friends.  He works 3 months per year (what a life !) and owns / is a partner in two Halloween Stores.  Interesting indeed.

It didn't take long and we were all off to bed.  In the morning (like in a few hours), I'll take him and his bike, or at least his wheel, over to a bike shop to see if they've got spokes for his wheel.  He hit some speed bumps that did in the wheel.

Earlier in the day ... I went for a bike ride, north.  Even before I turned south, the wind had shifted from ENE to ESE so I got a workout both ways. 

Today, after I give Jason a hand, I'll go for another bike ride, south this time, and I've got packing to do.  Time is running out.
