Jun 12 - a not so uneventful trip

We left Reading at 7:30 a.m.  Emma tends to get carsick, so Sara had dabbed some stuff on her skin that's supposed to help -- like "the patch" for seasickness.  She was fine for a couple of hours then got hungry, Sandy gave her some strawberries ... and she said "I feel sick" and then promptly threw up all over her DVD player, herself, the car seat ... swimming in barf.

Sandy wanted to pull over but the side of an interstate isn't exactly safe and besides, what were we going to do there ?  We got off at the next exit, got a roll of paper towels and then set to cleaning up.  Luckily Emma was still wearing her PJ's and her dress was in the car and not under all the other luggage.  We got her cleaned up, mostly, picked up some subs and headed off.

The rest of the trip was uneventful, an easy sail.  She's probably like Jeffrey when he was young, tends to be carsick in the a.m.  We played it safe, however, and the dog dish wasn't ever far from her reach.

At the border, I declared my roll of wire and other odds and ends and he asked "what else do you have besides your clothes" ... oh yes, two cases of beer ... "what else do you have besides your clothes" ... my bike ? ... "what else do you have besides your clothes" ... then, from Sandy "the dog" -- yes, do you have papers -- this was about the 3rd time ever that we've been asked for papers.

So, he wanted papers for Abby but not Emma -- go figure.  Emma had her passport, which could have been any baby since the picture was when she was tiny and we had a letter from Sara and a copy of Sara's passport.  None of that was needed.  Abby's papers were, however.

From there, more smooth sailing.  We stopped in Parry Sound for a hot dog (Emma) and Swiss Chalet.  I'm tired of SC but it's better than much on the road.  I went over to Sobey's with the car; Sandy and Emma walked over; we picked up some vegetables for the next couple of days and some milk for Emma.  We were set.

Back home to our northern abode -- a tree down across the dock.  The large birch by the boathouse had finally fallen down, broken off at the root.  Luckily the Whaler was in the boathouse !  There doesn't seem to be any damage to the dock but I've got some "Stihling" to do.

Emma gave her seal of approval -- "Nana you have a nice house".  Good :).

Today, not sure.  I'll definitely go into town for the mail and some food.  I don't think that I'll get to the tree, but who knows.

Onward ?  Hopefully !
