At the last moment, I opted to do some maintenance items instead of riding. Today will be my riding day.
First off, the bike needed a new chain, as I discovered, and it was time to change the crank chainrings. The second item turned out to be quite the chore. The T3 Torx chainring bolts would not release, or rather three of the five wouldn't release. The Torx thread stripped. These are front and back pieces so replacement bolts also replace the receiving threads. I had two options -- leave them for now or drill them out ... I drilled. Before I did that, however, I checked to see if the chainring bolts on the yellow bike were the same size, and they were. Drilling these alloy bolts is quick and easy but it's not a step that I undertook without a little sweat ! I didn't want to have an emergency trip to Barrie or somewhere south of that for a new crankset.
I've now ordered some replacement bolts, two sets, and they'll be delivered to Reading so that Jeffrey can pack them for his trip here.
Secondly, the lawn needed mowing, or rather a sythe would have done a nice job. Actually I used the weed eater which mostly behaved itself although getting it started the first time required the use of "quick start".
For the first time in recorded history, my grass is shorter than the Davies'. Well, that's probably not true -- I'm sure that at times my Dad kept up better.
I did some more reorganizing in the Den, moving the satellite modem into the wiring closet. The attenuation was up to 24, which is what I expected with the additional connections, not down under 2. I don't know why it was reporting under 2 before. Once in the wiring closet, I'm down to 18. I haven't attached the secondary ground yet, don't know if that will make a difference. I thought about starting the replacement wiring up to the dish but didn't tackle that.
I also used the 4-wheeler and moved the cut birch up to the barn, taking several trips. What a work-horse that machine is ! Today, with some luck, I'll take up the brush.
Sandy and Emma went to Sudbury, picking up groceries and flowers for the deck. They were supposed to go to Parry Sound but that changed somewhere along the way.
Tomorrow, Sandy goes to the ballet. That's going to be a day trip. Emma will have to go to Mass with me in Britt.
We had stir-fry for dinner, the last of the leftover fondue beef. Emma had another hot dog (wiener only) along with strawberries and potato wedgies. We're now into a routine of sorts.
Onward ...
