Jun 13 & 15 - Stihl Work

There's nothing like a good chainsaw and a sharp chain.  It made quick work of that birch even though it was a hefty tree, about 1' in diameter at the base.  I now have a stack of wood awaiting my pleasure, i.e. moving it up to the barn where I'll split it later in the year.

I also have a pile of brush to get rid of ... a similar destination.

Sandy worked most of the day in the garden, replanting beans that didn't do well while we were away and tending to others.  Something was cutting the newly sprouted beans off at ground level.  Emma helped as well.

Speaking of Emma, she had a good day.  She was downstairs, dressed and hair brushed ready for her French Toast breakfast.  She had Kraft Dinner (aka mac-n-cheese) for lunch and at dinner she ate her hot dog (actually just the wiener) and a bunch of peas and a roasted potato wedgie.  That's big for her.  She usually doesn't eat any veggies and even to TRY something new like the "nana fries" is something else !

What else .. oh yes, I went into town and picked up a few things at the General Store.  I changed the water filter in the basement.  I put Sandy's car up on the jack stands to check out the front end -- there's some front-end shimmy upon hard acceleration in 4th & 5th gear around 90-100 kph.  All's ok with the suspension (yes, I know this suspension), nothing loose like ball joints etc.  Doing some online searching it could be a variety of things, nothing safety related.  People start replacing parts like drive-shafts etc.  I think that she also needs new struts.  I know that the car needs some painting in spots ... we're thinking of taking it to Florida this winter, i.e. driving two cars.

Today promises to be another glorious sunny day.  I hope to get out on the bike; Sandy and Emma are going to Parry Sound to pick up some flowers for the deck.

Onward ...

-------------

Whoops !  I forgot to post this, or didn't get a response (I'll blame it on Blogger).  In the meantime, I posted June 14 ... I'm really out of synch !

I did get out for a ride.  Again, I'm left wondering how I ever complete 1200km when 70 miles is so hard !

Sandy and Emma worked in the garden and went kayaking.  Apparently Emma got the hang of it right away.  Sandy also figured out that Emma hasn't been here during the summer since 2010, when she was two years old when she was the flower girl for Jeffrey & Sara's wedding, so she really doesn't remember what it's like here during the summer.  She told us that she wants to stay all summer to help us :).

I've had another switch die -- Ethernet switch, that is.  It was constantly pinging or exchanging data with the router, causing slowdowns.  I've ordered another couple of 8-port switches from Newegg for Jeffrey to bring up in a couple of weeks.

It's pouring rain right now, doesn't look like a "happy" day.  I'll be taking Emma to church with me; Sandy is going to Toronto for the day to the ballet.

Emma didn't do quite as well with last night's dinner.  She ate one bean and drank a lot of milk.  Oh well.  Sandy thought that she'd like the chicken nuggets but if they're any different from what she's had before, it's no go.  She eats sufficient during the day and we don't make a big deal out of it.

What else ... nothing much.  I've still got that pile of brush to take up and if it stops raining long enough, Emma can help me take that to the end of the road.

Jim and Bonnie were off to Parry Sound yesterday; they're moving into a larger condo for July 1.  Sandy said that Jim came by on his 4-wheeler, saw that the X5 was gone and turned around and left.  I'm not sure what he wanted.  I'll give them a call in PS later today (if I remember) in case there was something that he wanted me to do while he was away.

Onward, again, still ...
