I have Emma mostly to myself today. We went to Mass; Emma was quite well behaved. When we came back, I asked her if she wanted lunch ... nope. She wanted to play with her toys -- works for me !
She did that for a while and then was ready for lunch. Mac-n-cheese + milk, easy. Next we went outside and took two loads of brush to the end of the road. Emma helped pile the brush onto the trailer (really !) and then away we went. We both wore our bug suits, which made it hot work.
After that project was completed she played with her toys again and then we played "Go Fish", first with the picture deck, which we found was missing some cards, and then I taught her how to play with regular cards. She's quick and caught on right away. Her reading is very good, reminds me of Kylie, quick on the uptake.
Now, almost 4pm, she's watching a movie. She's not a kid who needs TV to keep occupied. She's got a good imagination.
Sandy called from Costco in Barrie on the way down and then from a traffic jam on the 400, just checking to see how bad it was. Not too bad from this end, so hope that she made it on time to her ballet.
In an hour, we'll have cheese and crackers. Emma has fallen right into that routine.
More later -- hopefully I'll remember to post this one !

Emma and I had dinner and then we went on Facetime with Sara. Her Mom, Sister and Chase were there too, since Sara was in Chesapeake Beach MD visiting her Mom. That was great ! We must have spent at least a half-hour on Facetime. Thank you Xplornet for providing a faster satellite link; before this it really didn't work well.
We had ice cream for desert and then Emma watched 1/2 hour of The Wizard of Oz, which she's seen before. She knew going in that she was going to break up the movie so there was no fuss at 8pm. She then read The Cat in the Hat to me before going to bed. Her reading is amazing for a kid just completing kindergarten. She doesn't get stuck on any words. It's not smooth, she doesn't read ahead yet, but it's accurate.
Sandy got home shortly after Emma went to bed. She'd enjoyed the ballet, was a worthwhile trip.
Another day was over. Heavy rain in the morning, broken cloud later in the day. Today we've got cloudy again but the rain is south of us. Hopefully Emma will be able to do some things outside. I think that I'll be riding tomorrow, rather than today, but we'll see. Tomorrow and then Thursday riding, then Friday driving to Toronto seems like a reasonable schedule.
Onward ?
