The week wears on. Travel is looming large, overtaking my thoughts, or at least that's where my head is this morning !
We had a good day yesterday, albeit a cloudy, cool one. This morning has started off even cooler, 43F, but the sun is out and therefore the day promises better.
Global warming is not in evidence. The nights and days are cooler than I'd have expected for this date in June, but perhaps that's just me. The water is only 67F, according to my depth finder.
Yes, the boat went into the water yesterday. I'll pull it out on Friday, as I'll be away for a week, even though Sandy will be here. Emma and Abby and I pulled a couple of logs out of the cove across the lake and into the shallows of the bay.
I really have to deal with the gazebo screen before it completely rips out. I taped a couple of spots yesterday but that's not the real answer. Perhaps I'll run into town this morning.
I also have to get out on my bike today, today and Thursday would be the plan I guess. Then the bike has to be packed into the hard case for travel.
I'm getting loads of emails from Granite Anvil riders as they are now completing their qualifying rides. Andrea has ordered Jerseys, Caps, Bags, T-shirts and Water Bottles -- some purchased and some SWAG for the riders and Volunteers. That's taken a whole lot of back-and-forth between us.
I had an email from a rider from the Seattle area yesterday who was asking if we could have fewer than three drop bags. That's something that we're now considering. Later in the day I exchanged emails with that same rider who in the interim had crashed on a short ride where he lives and broken his pelvis and hip. Yikes ! So much for his cycling season ! It takes so little; we're so fragile.
We had a Randonneurs Ontario Board of Directors conference call last night. Time marches on. The Granite Anvil is getting closer.
Anything else ? Hmm. Sandy reorganized the pantry, which was a mess. She played cards with Emma, teaching her Rummy. She's going to have her hands full for the week that I'm gone.
I puttered some more in my den closet, adding a little shelf for the Ethernet Switch and the Satellite Modem. It gets a little neater all the time.
We had trout for dinner with rice and broccoli. Emma had a hot dog (wiener) and applesauce. She didn't touch her rice or broccoli. Perhaps the timing of cheese and crackers was too close to dinner ... but she never eats anything for dinner anyway ! Two Ritz crackers and two small pieces of cheese don't exactly fill her up. There's no snacking around here; she's just not a big eater at this point in time. That will change.
Onward ...
