Jul 6 - nothing in particular

The day went by with really nothing notable.  I went to Mass at 4:30 p.m.; I did a little work at the new ramp, cleaning up and adding some gravel along the side; I had a snooze ... sheesh !

Sandy kept the laundry going with sheets and towels; a lot quicker with the new machines !

It was hot, the hottest day so far this year.  I put on the A/C, which is almost a waste of time.  In 1.5 hours running, which I went to church and back, the temperature didn't drop one degree.  It did help cut the humidity.  One of these years I'll talk to the people in Sudbury about my setup.  Either the furnace is undersized, not blowing enough air or the A/C is undersized or both.  The furnace keeps up but isn't very good at raising the temperature of the place -- a couple of hours per degree, which is probably ok since we only need that when we're coming back.  The A/C is almost useless.  I'm not sure if it can even maintain temp, but perhaps it can.  I've not tried.

I finally picked up my minnow traps on the way back from Loring that have been at the culvert on 522 for a few days.  I've now got a bunch of crayfish and more minnows.  There were also some large chub-type minnows, 5-6" long, in one of the traps which I let go.  They'd be ideal for ice fishing, but I don't think that they'd keep that long :).

I did see my Aunt Ruth, Anne & Paul; Christine & Maurice and their kids at Mass.  My Aunt looked quite good; I couldn't see any effects from her minor stroke.  She probably notices some things but I couldn't tell.  We stood outside the church and caught up for a while.  Perhaps we'll get over there after Aug 1 when they are up to their cottage for more than a weekend.

Apparently Michael & Karen won't be getting to the cottage this summer and Paul & Denise won't be there much either.  Perhaps we'll see P&D if we visit their cottage, not sure.

That's about it.  Abby and I need to have breakfast now and then go fishing !

Onward !
