Jul 7 - pickerel for dinner

Amazing.  Two pickerel (walleye) in one year.  This one was caught in about 8' of water just off the point at Smith's Bay.  I was expecting bass, thought I had a pike on the line but to my amazement, there it was.  At about 2 pounds, it yielded a nice dinner for the two of us.  It, along with a very small bass, added up to 14 oz of edible meat.

I was planning on going out again this morning but it's breezy with gray skies.  A.M. fishing is much better under sunny skies -- not just for me, but the fish.

Later in the morning, I went out for a bike ride.  It certainly wasn't the hottest ride that I've done this year but for some reason I was really thirsty.  Most of the time on these 70 mile rides I don't even get through one water bottle but this time I'd finished both before I hit 60 miles.

Sandy, meanwhile, spent hours out in the kayak and talked to everyone on the lake.  She gets most of the way to the ESS Narrows and visited with at least a half dozen people along the way there and/or back.

Today is a driving day.  We head down to Stef's -- moving day for her -- to pick up her car and the girls.  I also need something from Metro (grocery store) close to her.  We'll head to Barrie and then, depending on where the movers are in the process, hang out somewhere.  We've got grocery shopping to do, so we'll probably hit Costco in Barrie.

The movers arrive at Stef's at 10am and I expect that it will take them a few hours to load if our experience in Radnor means anything.   Because half our household contents were heading north and half heading south, they only had to load half the house but even so, it took most of the day ... and what they were loading was packed by pros, so it was nicely boxed.  Self packing, which is what Stef has done, usually involves many more smaller boxes so I'm not sure how long it will take.  By tonight we'll know !

Abby will get to ride around for the day.  I see some rain on the Doppler; not sure what we'll encounter.  We'll be back here tonight.  I think that Stef imagines us lounging around the pool at their new place but I don't think that's going to happen.  Since the movers will be unloading today as well, this will be a long day.

Southward !
