Oct 20 - the big room

It's a big room.  21' x 24' is a immense room.  Let's put this in perspective -- our cottage was originally 20x20 -- the entire cottage !  Jason's was 20x24 with two bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen and living room included.  We both had lofts, of course and this room has a loft, although not overhead, so not only is the room immense but the ceilings are 22'+ high -- big in all respects !

Sandy cleaned the tiles.  I primed the new ceiling areas in the kitchen and primed the laundry room.  What a difference in both places.  The laundry room is brighter and the living room floor looks wonderful.  Of course those tiles move into the dining room and kitchen as well, a lot of tile.

Can you believe that most of the house was never painted.  I take that back, I'm referring to the living room and laundry room.  A couple of the living room walls were painted but the ceiling and other walls are just plaster, never even primed.  We'd thought that there was only a flat paint ... but no.  The kitchen had been painted, including the ceiling.

We had our first meal in the new part-kitchen; the usual shrimp, spinach and rice.  It was good.  It was also good to smell something else in the house other than fresh plaster, paint and drying mortar !

Today is a big day.  The stair stringer goes in.  Hopefully that will be a success and no-one and nothing will get hurt in the process.

Once the stair stringer goes in, I expect to be able to walk up those tread supports to get upstairs and stop using the elevator.  We'll see.  Sam is going to order the treads once the stringer is in place.

Onward !
