Well, we now have the stair stringer in place. We can walk upstairs without using the elevator ! Sandy doesn't like not having a railing but that doesn't bother me.
That was quite the operation. It's huge. They setup a temporary support for an overhead chain hoist, positioned the thing and dry-fitted it to holes drilled in the concrete floor as well as where it butts up to the landing above.
The treads are on order. The railings will be fabricated after the treads are in place. I can now go ahead and finish the flooring upstairs.
We also have most of the kitchen cabinets in place. We're missing a couple and the doors are on order. The granite people are supposed to come in the next day or so and make a template.
The painter will start today or tomorrow with the kitchen being the first priority.
I installed the vent hood, with Sandy's help. That's messy but done. It's not piped to the ceiling yet but I could do that now if I wanted.
What else ... that's a lot ! Once the painting has been completed then we can move furniture back into place and clear out the bedrooms upstairs and downstairs; we should be mostly there by the end of the week, give or take. I'll also be able to start doing baseboard and door casing. That goes relatively quickly.
Whew !
Onward !
