It was a day for small stuff.
Mike came and installed one cabinet.
Vic came and looked things over.
Jim came and hung drywall on the sides of that 2x4 landing.
I re-attached the electrical box under that landing and hung the underside.
The plasterer came and plastered the landing.
Then, sort of inspired, I took down the fan in the dining room. Jeff, from Coronado, was interested in it so I called him and he'll likely pick it up today.
I made a trip to Home Depot and Harbor Freight. I needed some plumbing at HD and wanted to look at the miter saws at HF. While cheap (inexpensive, I hope, not cheap, but who knows) that 12" sliding compound miter saw at HF is huge. It will cut 14" wood, so the slide rails are very long. I don't know if I have a place for it. The 10" version is smaller, but I can't cut 6" baseboard standing up. This is a bother. I'm still deciding on what to do.
The plumbing was necessary to install the fridge water supply. I didn't have any 1/4" OD fittings. I'd also decided that I wanted to up-size to connect to the water supply with a braided hose, minimizing the number of 1/4" compression fittings. I don't like copper compression fittings. Since the tubing bends, there are no shark-bites that fit it, unfortunately.
The fridge is now hooked up. That was a late-day affair.
There were a few other things that occupied the day but mostly cleanup. I've got to pickup some envelopes to get jerseys and caps in the mail; they've arrived from LG.
Onward ? I'm planning on riding today. The painter is supposed to come today. The granite fabricator is supposed to show up at some point to do the template ... today ? not sure. Mike will deliver the one remaining cabinet and shelves, tie up some other "loose ends". Vic and I had pushed and tugged the island into its final resting place, so work can continue there.
Sandy uses the elevator. She only used the stairs once, with both hands on the wall. Even Jim hugs the wall. I can trot up and down happily, haven't used the elevator since the stringer went in.
I could do the flooring upstairs, I suppose, but I think that I'll wait for the treads so that I know EXACTLY where to leave off. I only want to do this once, or make that twice, since I already did it once.
We are open for business. We have access to everything; all appliances are turned on. I believe that Ken Mercurio and son are visiting tomorrow, probably only staying for lunch though. He doesn't know that we've been under construction so it will be a surprise.
And, and ... the dumpster is gone. That marks the end of big-time mess.
Stuff has been creeping back into the kitchen but we haven't moved any furniture. That will happen when the painter is finished. If he doesn't show up in the next day, I'll probably move the TV and a couple of chairs into the living room since they can be covered. It won't take more than a couple of hours to move most of the living room furniture back into place. It's all lightweight stuff. Everything will be staged away from the walls anyway so that I can do baseboard.
Onward !
