Duane the painter showed up and then, of course, with the entire kitchen draped with plastic, Mike the kitchen guy did too. Luckily Duane only took another 15 minutes to finish the ceiling and Mike could get going.
Duane had his brother-in-law Chip with him and they worked quickly. Before I left for my ride, which wasn't until 11 a.m., Jeremy his son was also working. They got a lot accomplished while I was gone -- the kitchen is finished, ceiling and walls, and the living room and loft have two coats on the ceiling. He'll be back at the latest Monday, to finish up -- walls and doors.
Mike did a bunch of trimming, and caulking, fiddly stuff. I guess that he was there until around 1pm. Duane and co. were just cleaning up when I got home close to 5pm. They'd been working steadily, a long day.
Everything is being done with rollers, rather than the original idea of spraying. He'd decided that it was going to be just as quick, since the masking of everything would have taken a long time. This morning the paint smell is just about gone but it was quite strong when I got home last night, naturally. We had all the doors open and that created some good flow-through.
The granite people are supposed to come first thing this morning. Doors are on order for the cabinets but I haven't heard a delivery time yet. I'll check with Vic.
I started wiring the island before dinner last night. I need to pick up some staples and clamps at HD along with, naturally, a laundry list of other items. Thank goodness they're closer than Sudbury !
The other thing that I did before dinner was take down the fan in the living room. It's attached to a 6' downrod hanging from the 22' ceiling but was accessible, once I steadied myself and took a few deep breaths, from Duane's tall stepladder. He's also left a long extension ladder so I'll be able to install the smoke detector. I will install the new fan/light this morning.
Ken Mercurio is supposed to visit today but we've not heard anything definite. Jason's coming next week ... we're open for business !
Onward.
