Yes, showers all around but for once, not on me. I rode south -- it's been a long time since I've done that -- no, I take that back -- that was my aborted ride with the tire/rim/tube problem of a few days ago. This time I made it !
Before riding, I did a few things around here. For one, I did a teensy bit of drywall work where the stair threshold meets the wall. 2"x9" on the flat ... not too strenuous ! It's not often that I'm "hanging" drywall as if it's flooring. Tape, mud and later more mud and later paint and that's done.
I also painted that 6"x6" patch where I'd cut the wall to do the switch-work of the other day (River Room) and a similar sized patch in the Master Bedroom where I'd removed the old motion sensor. Sandy was able to match the paint, buying a quart. I only needed the few drops of paint on the lid of the can ... oh well. I now have a full quart for touch-ups, if ever needed.
I guess that the major accomplishment of the day was quite early when I opened up the PC and installed the new SATA card. I hooked that up to the external ports and to the external drive and voila, all three drives were visible and bootable. This didn't take very long ... but I was happy that the "Port Multiplier" function worked well. I'm now running live off one of my 2.5" boot drives on the external "enclosure" that's not really an enclosure. The only thing that I haven't tried is "hot swap", which is supposed to work; some other day.
Ah yes ... Charlie came over and finished up the drawers, the three missing drawer fronts. There are no outstanding kitchen items at this point -- good news !
We went over to Sam's shop and checked out the treads. There's no point in making the same mistake twice. They look good and he was going to be clear-coating them later in the day and again today, planning on installing them on Monday. With some final measurements at that point, the railings should be ready by the end of the week.
I only have a couple of outstanding things at this point.
1) baseboard in the loft. I guess that there's nothing holding me back on this one.
2) conduit for the under-cabinet lighting. I've got the material, just need to tackle this.
3) is there a (3) ? Well, I do either have to clean up the edges of the fireplace or buy/install some additional trim to dress up those edges.
I've been gradually cleaning up and putting things away. That's risky though, since as soon as I put something away, I need it again. Hopefully I won't need things like the reciprocating saw any more !
----------
It's now less than a month until we go north. I need to do something about tires since I don't want to take those Firestone's that Daryl installed back on the long road. I also need to start doing things with Sandy's car, although all that might wait until we've back in January.
Otherwise ? I need to start making lists of things to bring and things to bring back.
Onward !
