Nov 24 - blowing in the wind !

Second Wow.   Coming home was at times a blast, riding at 25 mph and still feeling the wind strongly at my back, which would put the wind well over 30 mph..  Sometimes it was unnerving, however, in Daytona Shores with the high-rises, as that same wind swirled around changing directions, almost pushing me into the curb a few times.  I had to slow down a little to stay upright on the bike.  Luckily traffic was light and I basically took the right lane, not wanting to ride too close to the curb.

First Wow.  Before that trip south, heading north was a grind.  More than a few times I looked down and saw that I was riding at 8.something mph, struggling against the headwind.  It took three hours to ride the 40 miles north.

The ocean was wild !

I'm mostly on hold here, other than puttering.  I've got those few small pieces of baseboard and edge trim to add in the loft, but don't want to do those until we see how they would fit in with the railings.  I puttered with the fireplace edging a bit but I think that the only real solution is to cut the drywall back 3"-6" and re-do it so that it meets the fireplace surround evenly then put a simple flashing on top of that.  This is not something that I'm going to rush into ....

Otherwise ?  I did some more Christmas online shopping.  This is going to be a busy week for deliveries.

Sandy has been doing a lot of work in the garden, but she wasn't inspired yesterday with that wind.  It was actually cool out !  I put on a sweater, with my shorts, of course, to take Abby for a walk after the bike ride.

I hope that we see Sam with the treads today.  I'm ready to see this finished.  I was realizing yesterday that with only one significant exception, I've been working at this project for over two months now, many days putting in longer hours than the contractors and also working on weekends.  Some of those days were more supervising than actually working but I was always puttering.  The significant exception was Columbus Day Weekend, the three day 1000k ride.  I've missed a lot of riding in that time, usually going out every 3rd or 4th day, instead of every 2nd day.  Oh well, that's what it took to get 'er done.  Now it's getting cold and windy and I've got time to ride.  Rats !

Onward, I hope ...
