Yes ! We have treads ! They're beautiful !
It's sock-feet for a while on these treads. The clear coat is still hardening; I could smell the paint when I got up this morning.
In the meantime ... I did some work at the edge of the flooring, adding drywall joint compound so that there won't be a gap between my trim pieces and the wall. I suppose that I could have just attached them and caulked, but oh well. I also painted those trim pieces (outside corners).
When Sam was here, he brought in what will be the rail so that he could mark it where he wanted to place uprights. It's all going to be one welded piece of aluminum from the bottom of the stairs to the top and around the corner -- uprights, horizontal pieces and top rail, powder coated to the same color as the stringer. That's a lot of aluminum ! The other piece will be the loft railing, same idea, one piece. He wasn't sure if it would be ready for installation on Friday or Monday.
I was planning on going to Harbor Freight after Sam did his thing but he didn't get here until after lunch and by that time I didn't feel like tripping around.
Holy Crap -- there's something going by out on the water that has a top light about a hundred feet up ... ok, was just out on the balcony and I'll revise that estimate -- perhaps 30-40 feet up. It's a multi-mast sailboat. I could tell as it went across some of the far off lights that it wasn't solid. I see lots of lights go by on the intracoastal waterway in the dark but usually it's just the bow and stern lights of a small boat.
Ok, I admit it, I first typed "front and back" and then erased that and changed it to "bow and stern". The "white out" business has gone the way of saddle manufacturers or perhaps worse !
I did some chasing yesterday. I called up the granite guy -- "I'm waiting for an invoice, are we on the same page ? It's your money ..." ... so he sent me an invoice in an email and I now have money to mail to him.
Similarly I called Vicki at Gas Plumbing Services -- "I'm waiting for you to tell me how much I owe you" ... she knew that and hoped to get back to me by end of day. She didn't.
I had to chase Vic to pay him. I paid off Jim a while ago, asking him when he was here "do you want some money" ... "yes, that would be nice". I paid Sam yesterday for the extra work on the treads "how much do I owe you ?" and we settled that up.
All these people must have Accounts Receivable problems -- not because their customers don't pay but because they are too busy "doing" to send out invoices ! Sheesh.
So ... today is supposed to be my 200k. I'm supposed to be riding in about 40 minutes. There's big rain coming. I'm not sure if I want to head out into that ! I have to decide soon !
Onward ? One way or the other ...
