Nov 26 - stopped before I started

It has already started raining, so I abandoned the idea of doing the 200k today (it's only 7:15 a.m. right now).  I suppose that I could change my mind in the next half-hour, but not likely.  It's only going to get worse.

So ... I have done a little more painting of the trim strips.  Once dry, I'll move forward with attaching them to the floor/wall.  I just haven't decided on the best way to do that yet.  These go where the hardwood floor in the loft meets the wall and there's not much underneath to which I can attach.  I don't know that shooting a nail into them is the best way, since there's so little below.  What I need is an instant stick approach ... contact cement ?  Hmmm.

I forgot about something that I did do yesterday -- I added a receptacle in the kitchen at the garage entrance.  It's just one more thing that the electricians forgot.  Surprise surprise.

Hopefully I can do some errands today.  The first thing that I'm doing is taking Sandy's car over to Liberty Collision to have them give me an estimate on fixing a rust spot.  I figured that they'd be cheaper, and more convenient, than using Budd's in Oakville.  These guys are good.  Anyone who likes Rush has to be good.  That's another story.

Tomorrow morning I've got an appointment to "go live" with the security system.  I don't know why I have to wait for an appointment, however.  Perhaps I should call them and see if I can just go ahead sometime today.  Testing ... 1, 2, 3 ...

I'm backing myself into a corner.  Waiting for a South wind this month has not turned into a good thing.  It rained yesterday, on and off, and was raining even before daylight.  I didn't ride.  US 1 in the rain is not the best place to be on a bicycle.  Yes, I'll do it but not if I can avoid it.

So today is no better.  The rain is just about through but the wind is HUGE from the west.  Going either direction would be a fight both ways.  Tonight the temperature is supposed to drop down to 39F.  Is this really what I want ?  Friday looks better.  Saturday is the last day of the month.  I'll have to go Friday just in case something goes wrong during the ride.  I don't want to blow my R12 at this point.

Then I need to do another 200k next week or at least before we head north !

Around 7pm UPS showed up and I think that he unloaded half of his truck.  The biggest items were, of course, the new tires.  They were accompanied by 5 huge boxes of stuff; Christmas gifts that we've mostly ordered from Amazon.  I say we, but I'm the one in charge of Christmas shopping, for the most part.  We seem to have become a preferred UPS customer due to the number of inbound items.  Ha.

I didn't waste the day.  I finished up that trim where the loft floor meets the downward wall.  I also did the few pieces of baseboard.  It's not a lot of volume but it's fiddly.  I caulked and painted.

I had a hard time getting that trim in place.  I ended up using contact cement for three pieces and epoxy for the other.  Epoxy the entire way with weights to keep it in place would probably have been the best approach.  Hind sight is great !  While the finish nailer would certainly have anchored it to the floor, I'd have had to do an angle nail and there's no way that it would have stayed straight, contacting the floor as well as the wall.

I went over to the paint shop early on and got an estimate for Sandy's car.  It's half the price that Budd's would have charged us in Oakville, no surprise.  He made a comment about how the car was in great shape.  Well, only being driven half the year does help, and, for the most part, no winter weather driving either.  Now I have to get going on the clutch, brakes and have the suspension checked out.  I want this car to have had a complete going-over before we take it back north.  I'll probably put new tires on it in the Spring before we head out.

I did get the security thing over with.  I got an email in the afternoon confirming the appointment and replied "can we do this now ?  I'm ready", and he called about five minutes later.

What else ?  Not much.  Putter.

Today I might go for one of my "normal" rides.  That remains to be seen.
