Jan 25 - waste of time

We are looking at replacement X5's but not 100% sure that we'll pull the trigger on anything.  This one is running so well, seems a waste.  When I open the hood and see all those new parts ...

If we do anything, it will be a minor update, moving ahead 2-4 years but way ahead in mileage.  There are many 2006-2008 cars out there (our current one is a 2004) with under 75k miles vs ours with 280k miles.  We went into Daytona and looked at a 2008 with 55k miles and the first thing that I did, naturally, is get down on my knees and look under the rear at the camber adjustment.  Sure enough, it seemed all the way.  Do I want to simply trade for a newer set of problems ?  Will that camber last forever ?  Certainly with our current car, the negative camber developed over a long, long time.  I have no way to judge what the progression might be.

So, the salesman said that we could see the car at the Peabody Center where it was on display.  Yes it looked good, from the outside and through the windows, but I know what these cars look like and I know how they drive.  We then went to their showroom, which is large and has its own service department -- they sell lots of BMW's, currently have 35 in stock along with other imports.  It's almost like dealing with a new car dealership, not one of those lots-on-the-street kind of used car lots.

We met with the salesman and then he found out that he couldn't have the car brought back to the shop for a test drive until the next morning, well, not this morning since it's Sunday.  Had we known that, we'd have simply waited until Monday.  The dealership is on International Speedway Blvd, a pain to get to when there's a big race on -- the 24 hour Rolex.

From there, nothing.  Sandy shopped and I puttered.  We had Pompano for dinner.

Onward.
