Jan 6 - do nothing

Well, not exactly nothing.  I'm not good at nothing.

I cleared the driveway of almost one foot of snow.  Talking to Susan, she said that they've never seen this much snow at once.  Jim and Bonnie have been here longer, perhaps they have. Early afternoon the plow went by, taking good care of us. 

I talked to the BMW dealer and they didn't get the parts.  Toronto and Barrie were basically closed down with the weather.  What's happening with my car ?  Nothing.

I watched some netflix.  I puttered in my workroom.  I dismantled the large UPS in the den, finding two 12-volt batteries in the main unit and six in the auxiliary.  It's going to be cheaper to replace the lot with two marine deep cycle batteries wired to the main unit.  It would cost a lot to replace the smaller batteries -- think 6x$35 + shipping.  They've been doing their job since 2005 or 2006, so they don't owe me anything.  There have been a lot of deep cycles in that timeframe, something that those gel lead-acid batteries are not really good at.

What else ... not much.  watched the weather ?

Well, we're about to leave.  I don't know if the parts will get to Barrie today; don't know if the car will get fixed; don't know where we'll sleep tonight.  We'll be traveling light -- Abby, one bag each and the cooler ... perhaps the camera, what the heck.

Barrie is now down to 60% chance of snow flurries and clear on the Doppler.  There's snow on the road for some distance north and some way south on the 400, typical of this time of year anyway, and snow squalls. 

Assuming that we get to Toronto and get Sandy's hair done; assuming that we get to Hamilton and pick up Sandy's passport ... perhaps we'll call Jason ?  That would depend on what's happening with our car.  If it's going to be fixed, then we'll head back to Barrie and likely overnight there.  If not ... perhaps I'll just abandon this car ?  those are negative waves !
