We hadn't been out in the boat since December. One of our batteries was dead (two in that boat) so I picked up a new Marine battery at Walmart after Mass. We headed out at 10:30, the motor started easier than I'd expected. It usually complains after a long time sitting.
Boy, did the wind ever blow. We went out on the ocean but got soaked. It wasn't the waves so much as the cross wind the blew any spray all over us. That part wasn't fun.
We stopped at the island, how could we not with Abby on board ? and went for a good walk. The wind was blowing there too, surprise surprise :). The dry sand was blowing on top of the wet sand but hugging the ground, so not in our faces. You could say that the wind was howling, but in open spaces it doesn't howl. With the water temperature at 63F, however, that wind made things cool.
The replica Nina and Pinta were parked at Inlet Harbor. We didn't stop there for lunch, were just touring around. We'd brought sandwiches and had eaten them at the island. We did the main channel route on the west side of the island facing Inlet Harbor, taking us away from the Inlet and then back to the marina.
We were back home by 3:30 or so; I caught up on email; we both cleaned up; Kirby and Sharon arrived at 5:30. We'd been trying to get together for dinner with them for a long time and finally managed to find a mutual date. Kirby has been working 6-7 days a week -- it never rains but it pours -- which has been the issue. Before that, Sharon's son and daughter-in-law were staying with them. We, of course, have had company too ... c'est la vie.
We took them to dinner at the Tiki. I owed them at least that for storing my trailer for so long.
Another day was done. Onward ! Today, I don't know. I'd like to get out on the bike but a) there are thunderstorms heading this way and b) I need to help sort out where we're going with David and Kim's Cadet franchise.
