78 miles under his belt, David was a little wiped. We'll see how he feels today. His body isn't quite used to endurance riding -- about 6 hours end-to-end.
He did well. We stopped a couple of times but no complaints. At one point he was getting a little dizzy; he hadn't taken my advice on eating, but I was prepared with bars and gels and he got through it. He had a couple of pieces of 7-11 pizza at the turnaround point.
Northward was a bit of a slog; I took it easy and he drafted as well as he could, was definitely getting better at it as the ride went on, more comfortable following closely. Southward was a hoot, riding mostly at 20mph, the same speed as the wind. You still burn calories and you're still sitting on your butt and your arms and shoulders are in a position that they're not really used to.
Once home, we only had 15 minutes before we headed out again. David drove the M5; I drove the X5; we got to the BMW dealership about 2 minutes before Service closed. Kelly was still there and I handed over the car. Today will tell the tale.
Once home, it was my turn to do dinner. Of course Sandy had done the tough stuff as usual. Triggerfish, asparagus and sweet potatoes hit the barbie. All good. I caught up with John Preston re the Florida 1200. He's on board. I also exchanged several emails with Dan Driscoll, TX, he's not happy with the Ft. Myers start; too far from Dallas. I'll keep working on him.
Sandy went to the Endo to have her stitches removed from the root canal and likely to deal with an infection. The conclusion is that it isn't an infection and things seem to be better now that the stitches are out. Her gym session yesterday was cut short because it was hurting so much.
I've got gym shortly ... then ...boating ... Onward !
