Well, we probably could have waited a day but since Dick had already ridden here, we set off. Luckily the mass of rain was heading from the west and angled southwest to northeast, so we started catching the edge of the rainstorm about 50 miles into the ride and it didn't start dumping until 30 to go. 137 on the day; it was a good ride.
They've made changes to 404 making it safe for bicycles so we didn't need to overshoot by 5 miles. Still, the back-and-forth onto Merritt Island does add bonus miles, since the straight shot south and north on US 1 is 124 miles exactly. The route on Merritt Island south of the Kennedy Space Center, riding Tropical Trail, is easy riding ... except for the head wind :).
Dick had three flats -- one just after the southern Control, one 2 miles short of the end and then another one before he got to his hotel. Today he's installing new tires !
Sandy had picked up Marda and they were home, having just cracked into a bottle of wine, when I got home at 5:30. The three of us met Dick and Nuala at Atlantic Bistro on Flagler for dinner and it was quite good. The Eggplant Parm was calling to me and I answered. enthusiastically.
Today -- John at the gym this morning; done. Next I saw Kim Taylor to make some adjustments on the hearing aids ... now perhaps I should wear them ? I've got to clean my bike from yesterday's messy ride and not much else. I may or may not do another ride tomorrow.
Sharon Carpenter was just over; Sandy giving her an Ipad lesson. I joined in after meeting with Kim and helped with some settings issues and also helped fix the time on the weather station that she'd brought with her.
Onward ...
