It was a computer-ese day.
I ran into some connection problems yesterday and found that my Linksys Router had reset itself to factory settings, all by itself.  Strange.  Since I use 10.0.0.1 as my gateway address, rather than the default, things had to be reconnected.  Then I had to setup wireless security again, QoS, etc.  It doesn't take long ... but ... and this morning I did a firmware update.  Who knows.
I'd downloaded Windows 7 the day before and setup a new "machine" running W7.  In this case, it's a virtual machine.  I've started loading software on that virtual machine (it's running now alongside this XP), starting with the virus checker, of course and then the recently purchased Office 2007.  I wanted to make sure that I didn't have to repurchase Office.
I've got a list of software to load now, 20-something programs that I use regularly and will no doubt run into more.  Of course the advantage of the VMware environment is that I can have XP running alongside so that if there's anything that I use infrequently, I can simply toggle over or fire up, depending on how long I keep XP running -- which could be a long time.  At the moment, however, I'm typing into the XP machine.
Dick and Nuala moved locations yesterday and yes, we did go for a bike ride.  We loaded the four bicycles onto separate cars and went to the Canaveral National Seashore park.  There we could ride down the middle of the road, check out Turtle Mound and Eldora.  There was a stiff south wind so it was an easy ride back.
We had pork chops for dinner, being a lazy whatever-we-can-find-in-the-fridge day.
Today Dick and I do a 200k or a reasonable facsimile.  In this case that will be longer, how long will depend on how much we can bear up with the wind which is really blowing out there.  Dick will be here around 7am for our departure.
Sandy will be heading to the airport to pick up Marda.  She'll be driving the M5 because her car is back to Liberty Collision for that rust repair.  Hopefully this time they'll be able to do the job.  We dropped it off last night because I'm out of here early this a.m.
Onward ...
