Jul 8 - St. Anicet

Camp, Cottage, Cabin -- these names refer to a second home, perhaps on a lake, perhaps in the woods, perhaps just a home away from home.  St. Anicet, on the lake, part of the St. Lawrence Seaway, has long been the Hawkins Camp, owned by Ross and Vi, now Carol and Alister.  When anyone in the family was heading to Camp, it was here.  Often the primary home is long gone but the location is still called Camp for the Hawkins, Cottage for the Thompsons.

Ok, we still have another home and the Cottage is kind of large for the name, but it's still referred to as the Cottage.  Speaking of which, that's where we're headed today.  Unfortunately we have to make a side trip, taking the long way around through Oakville to pick up Sandy's car.  Oh well.  Let's get that over with.

We lazed around Sheryl & Jim's yesterday, or at least I did.  I had a snooze, did one good deed helping Jim move the solar blanket out to the pool, packed the car and we headed our around noon.  Whoops, back to their place to pick up our freezer pack.  I'd thought of it earlier but forgot to ask and as we left the driveway on the way to the grocery store it all came back to me ....

We had lunch in Huntingdon, Omelette for me and grilled cheese for Sandy.  Abby ... well, she relaxed in the car.  Once at Camp, we sat out on the dock with Carol and Alister.  The 4 year-old next door -- Addie -- made friends with Abby, and they both had a swim.

There was a good breeze and it was comfortable sitting outside.  Later in the afternoon, it was glassy calm and the flies started to bother so we moved inside.  Carol prepared a light supper, just what the doctor ordered, cheese, bread, salad, chicken and we polished off some wine of course.  I'd picked up a bottle of Valpolicela from the SAQ in Hemmingford and it really disappointed.  I should have gone with my first choice, a Syrah.

Later in the evening it rained and we had some thunder but no light show really.  This morning it's blowing like crazy, moaning through any open windows, definitely not a good day for a ride!

It's 5:45.  Sandy is up already.  Of course we're working our way back to Eastern time.  We'll head for Toronto/Oakville before 7am, hopefully, and will be home to the Cottage by this evening, our travels over for a few days at least.

Onward ....
