Yes, the SPOT got here around 3:15; 15 minutes shy of 12 hours. That's not too bad when traveling with young ones. The night driving mostly worked out but it's still a long haul for Zoe. Emma was PERFECT.
We stopped at the Service Center on the 400 just north of Toronto; in fact it might be in Toronto these days. Emma was ok with a grilled cheese until about the last bite at which point she didn't like it. Go figure. Zoe didn't even touch hers; had too many snacks already in the car.
We got enough fuel (I say "gas" but of course it's "diesel") to get well across the border and then filled up at the first stop on I90. That got us to Reading, just. Normally it would have been plenty but pulling the trailer cuts the "gas" mileage significantly -- from 26+ to 19+. With the old X5 that would have been 15+-.
I got some coffee at that stop and then some more about 2 hours short of our destination. Traffic was light, naturally, and it did seem silly slowing down for those construction zones when we were the only car on the road and the zones were unoccupied. Whatever.
Earlier in the day Sandy did more cleanup inside and I did the outside, putting away all the kids toys on the beach, flipping the kayaks and ... yes ... staining the kitchen deck. Since Abby goes in and out that door it's awkward to not use it for 24-48 hours, except, of course, when we're not there.
Jason would have arrived last night, assuming that he went according to plan. Jim and Bonnie are back up Wednesday, I think. I'd forgotten to mention that the Troups were up; two cars in the driveway. I stopped by but there was no one around. Their boat was still at the dock. Gone for a stroll ?
Today will likely be a lazy day. I got up before 7am but no doubt will need a/some snooze(s). Sandy and the girls are still sleeping. Jeffrey met us when we pulled up and carried Zoe in to bed; Sandy carried Emma in; I carried luggage; the trailer now empty except for my bike. It was raining, but not heavily. It's still raining.
I see that Matthew is up, so to speak. He's in his automated thingy. Jeffrey went back to work yesterday, I guess.
Onward ...
