Sep 3 - longest leg

Driving all the way to Leesburg VA the day before a big ride is not a great idea.  Jeffrey & Sara being in Reading PA is ideal -- stop, visit, drop Abby at Debbie's, drive the last few hours to Leesburg for a leisurely arrival in the afternoon.  Otherwise it would be a 15 hour trip, which is ok for the return leg but not for the outbound.

Emma has marked the calendar -- sad face for today, because I'm leaving and happy face for Monday, when I'll be back.

It was a fairly easy trip down yesterday but of course it would have been shorter without the 2.5 hours in Oakville.  Leaving at 3:30am, I arrived in Oakville shortly after 7am (trip meter said 3 hours 31 minutes).  Of course I was way early for my 9am appointment, but had I left later the drive would have been a whole lot longer as I hit Toronto rush "hour" traffic.  I lounged around the Tim's nearby, catching up on email and news, took Abby for a walk etc.

I was in for my appointment before 9am and out of there by 9:20.  Back on the road, I got to Jeffrey's at 5:45.   The only slow spot was 61 between Hamburg and Reading.

I'm wearing the Walmart watch again.  I purchased that at the Gold Rush in CA last year.  I pull started the 3-wheeler, catching my Tag on the brake and saying good-bye to another watch band.  Sigh.  I've got to decide whether I replace the band (order from Hong Kong), buy another good watch or keep going to Walmart.  It's not a question these days of keeping good time -- the $12 watch keeps as good time as the Tag -- but vanity, I suppose.  I like the feel (heavy) and look of the Tag.

The one that I have is very old and Tag doesn't make a replacement band.  The original band was worked and re-worked until I finally bought a knock-off, which lasted a couple of years.  This one didn't last near as long but of course it had a catastrophic event ...

Onward ...
