I had set my alarm for 1am which worked out well. Up and out of the house withing about 20 minutes (had to make coffee), I was rolling along 422, 222 and 61 towards I78. I filled up with Diesel just before I78. Getting through the construction on 61 was a breeze as I was the only car :).
There was construction and low-speed zones all the way north on I476, the so-called northeast extension of the PA Turnpike. Wouldn't you know that I have to pay a toll to go through all that construction but once on I81, the free road, there were no construction areas or tolls. C'est la vie.
Somewhere along the way it was after 6am and I fed Abby and let her do her business. I also stopped at a Burger King for one of their crossandiwches (croissant, egg, cheese, ham) , which was actually ok. Later I would have a rest-stop-vending-machine bag of pretzels and much later, much much later, a Mr. Sub (yes, that would be in Canada).
When I got to the border there were three booths open and only two occupied. That was nice. Where do you live (Florida), how long will you be in Canada (I could have said forever as I'm entitled, but I said one week which is incorrect now that I think about it), where (cottage), guns (no), alcohol or tobacco (no), bringing in (bike trainer, $175) ... have a nice day.
As I was in good time to get to the dentist by 11am, I headed to Costco first at Laird Drive fairly close. I picked up a few things, went to the dentist who took me early and then headed north. My next stop was the aforementioned Mr. Sub and then Parry Sound to the animal hospital where I picked up Abby's antibiotics for $70. We don't have a drug plan for Abby. Penicillin really shouldn't cost that much. Ridiculous.
I got to the cottage about 3pm, yes pretty wiped out. After unloading the car, I gave Jim a call -- he had just arrived and was about to head to Smokey through the weekend guiding. Bonnie is in Parry Sound. Perhaps I'll see her later in the week as I expect that I'll be bringing Abby back to the vet.
The day, and I, were pretty much done. I snacked for dinner, watched a little Dr. Who, finishing up Season 4 and was in bed before 8pm.
Today I've got some Randonneurs Ontario stuff to do, will get into town for the mail, etc. etc.
Onward ....
