Oct 1 - good news !

Abby's thing-on-her-face was simply an infection.  She must have poked something in there rolling on the ground and it wasn't going away by itself nor was it going away with antibiotics.  She's still got some healing to do, stitches to come out and cone-of-shame to wear, but at least that's a local problem.

On a more serious note, Tom Allen had a stroke on the weekend so he and Susan won't be here this winter.  Susan is Trustee and Secretary/Treasurer on the Roads Board so we're scrambling trying to have coverage.  Her responsibilities can be carried off-site, but having a presence on Smiths Bay road is important.  Art is willing to help and I've been checking on where the other residents of SB Road are this winter.  Randy, former trustee, is away for 2 months; another is gone for three, another for 1.5 ... and amazingly enough, the 70+ year old woman at the very end of the road lives there full time and doesn't go anywhere.  Fewer and fewer people are here full time.

The good news is that Tom is doing well.  I'll be talking live to Susan this morning.  Regardless, they won't be here this winter.

I spent some time yesterday with our Viking stove.  The left front burner isn't lighting itself.  When you turn it on, you hear clicking but there doesn't seem to be enough voltage produced to create a spark.  I tried switching burners around to see if it was burner related; it isn't.  I then move wires around and it lights.  But turning two burners on to get one to light obviously isn't a solution, especially if that other burner won't light !  Sandy objects to using a lighter, but that's obviously not a killer ... we're going to have to replace the module that does the lighting as it doesn't produce enough juice at that one connection.

The other problem is that the threads for that burner screw down are stripped.  It was a pain to get apart and never would thread on properly.  The other burners are hand tight.  I don't know how I can chase those threads to get it working or even if that's possible.  It's not a real problem, it screws on enough to hold it in place, but annoying.

I did a bunch more work on the 1200k yesterday, think I have a hotel lined up in Daytona Beach, and I've been working on the overall budget.  The interested list is now up to 81 riders vs our likely 50 rider max.

I think that there's more, but that's all that I'm typing for now ...

Onward !
