Nov 1 - a day in the garage

It's amazing how much time it can take to hang some shelves, especially when they're attached to concrete.  It didn't take the entire day, but there wasn't much left over.

I decided to simply go with the "closet maid" shelves (should have been garage maid, I guess) to hang over the garage doors.  I bought two 8' x 16" shelves and the hardware and cut a few inches off each of the shelves with my hacksaw.  There was a lot of concrete drilling to do but at the end of the day, many things that had been stored on the much deeper shelves on the man-door side of the garage are now up there.  Without exception this is stuff that doesn't get accessed very often, like boat covers (never) and scuba equipment (soon ?).  That left a lot of room at the side of the garage for a few more things and some space left over.

To go with deeper shelving I would have had to hang those shelves from the joists above and I'm not sure how practical that would be anyway.  There's not a lot of clearance between the shelves and the ceiling because I have to set these over the garage door hardware.

I could add some more shelves on the workbench side of the garage and probably should while I'm busy at it.  Those would still be limited depth ... hmmm ...

Sandy went to the Saturday a.m. farmers market and picked up a few things but neither of us did a lot, somewhat tired from the day at Disney.  I don't know how Jason does it.  Of course our day ended later than theirs, since we had to drive back home and my day ended even later, as I was working on the A/C.

I actually turned the heat on for a while yesterday and it's on now.  The outside temperature says 40F but it's actually not that cold.  I know from experience that this sensor reads a little low.  I should put something else out there to calibrate.

We're back on Standard Time this morning so Abby is going to wonder what's happening with her breakfast.

Chicken on the grill as the order of the day along with potatoes and broccoli.  Sandy does a nuke-then-saute with the broccoli, one of her specialties.

Onward ?  I think that we'll do some flight and hotel booking today for next August's trip to Paris-Brest-Paris.  Our intent is to then head to Spain and Portugal but we'll book those on the fly.

Yes, onward !
