I have lots of catch-up to do ... riding and blogging !
Their flight due to leave later gave everyone a little time for a deep breath, but not much. We hit the road a little after 6am and headed to the airport. We were on I95 when Jeffrey got a text from Sara that their car's dash had displayed "engine malfunction". Ugh. Apparently it happened again but it hasn't happened since. Good job ! Who knows what that was ? I haven't gotten the code reader out to see if it says anything.
Jeffrey, Emma and I were a mile or two behind the SUV and Jeffrey used some iPhone feature to actually track them vs our position. Scenarios went through my mind as to what we'd do to get them to the airport if the car died. Thankfully nothing that drastic occurred. The dang newfangled cars give you panic messages if there's a misfire. I hate them !
We pulled into the departures unloading are right after them and I parked in front. It took a while to unload as Jeffrey opened one suitcase and stuffed some electronics in it and repacked the car seat bag. Poor Zoe was having a meltdown, basically overcome by her runny nose and other cold symptoms.
Just as they were organized, we saw one of the airport officials doing something by the other car, that was no more than 20 feet ahead of us. Apparently he thought that it was left there and was calling for a tow truck. Meanwhile, Sandy had tried to help by taking a cart of luggage inside, complicating the situation because that left me, Jeffrey and gang, and two cars. Ok, so which car are you claiming, kind of discussion ensued while I frantically gestured to Sandy, who we could see beyond the glass doors. She came back out and I had to put up with the fellow pointing to the sign and giving me the rules of the road, so to speak. I think that he was just annoyed that he couldn't have the car towed. We left.
I followed Sandy home but there was no more problem. Perhaps the car was catching Zoe's cold ? I know that we both now have the leading or trailing edges of that affliction.
However, I went about my business of getting some exercise, out for a ride. Sandy started into giving the washing machine exercise, sheets and towels !
It was a great day out there, north into the wind and south with a nice NE breeze.
The day was done, except for the Triggerfish for dinner that Sandy had picked up the day before along with the shrimp for dinner with the gang.
Another day dawned and I was heading to Orlando again. This time it was time for my urologist appointment. He did the usual digital exam. Fun. We talked. See you next year. Yup. Head back home again.
Rush, rush, rush ... a quick lunch and then off on the bike again. It was an opportunity for a southerly ride and I didn't want to squander it. Perhaps I should have squandered it ... the wind was horrible. I wiped myself out heading south, often no more than 9mph into a 20+ mph headwind; so much so that while I enjoyed the reverse, my legs didn't have anything left in the bank. Oh well. That's the way it goes. The weather is supposed to be cooler for the next week and I wanted to take advantage of the mid 70's temperature, despite the wind.
I made it back before it rained; in fact it hadn't rained here by the time we got back from dinner at the Sushi place. Sandy wanted a well-deserved break from cooking so we went out an ate raw ... go figure.
THAT day was done. A new day has yet to dawn; no definite plans yet.
Onward !
