Jan 25 - colder

Sandy's head cold is full fledged now; so far I'm avoiding it; I don't think that will last long !  No doubt hers will be gone by mid week and mine will be in full swing just in time for the Gainesville 200k on Saturday.

However ... I did go out for a ride.  With the wind from the west, it was a crap shoot, but I rode south knowing that for at least one section on the way back, I'd have the wind with me.

Sandy went out at some point and picked up food and we had steak for dinner.  They weren't too bad -- rib eye from Publix.  We never do steak without Sandy sauteing mushrooms and of course potatoes also on the grill and green beans.  We don't eat red meat as often as we used to and even with these two steaks, almost half is now in the freezer for a stir fry at some later date.

That was pretty much it for our day.   Mass in the a.m. of course.

Up north, however, things were happening.  It was Lauren's birthday and she hosted a paint-splatter party at a local art shop for a bunch of girls.  John and Cheryl -- Aaron's Dad and step-mom -- came for dinner.  David's birthday is in a couple of days, so he was in the party.  We called and offered our best wishes to the birthday girl.

As much as that sounds like fun, with the current temperature being -2F in Barrie, I'm happy to be in Florida where it's 58F right now, just before 7am.  The northeast is about to get creamed by a huge blizzard that will just touch Reading PA and the Toronto area with its edges ... hmmm.

Onward !
