Riding, that is.
I took the X5 in on Friday and picked it up at end of day. Fields disappointed again, not in the work, which is generally good, but in the timing. Not having heard anything by 4:45, I headed over, getting there at 5:15. Kelly was just finishing with a customer and said that she just had to finalize our paperwork -- and a little after 6pm, she was finished. There just aren't enough Service Advisers to go around OR they've given them too many duties. Something is wrong. For all I know the car had been ready for hours but Kelly was too busy to call me. Whatever.
Sandy was out with Patty, so Abby and I made do. I was going to bed just as she returned and then my alarm was going off at 1:15 a.m. and I was out of the house by 2am, to Gainesville by 4:15 and riding at 5:00.
At least we started without rain. That didn't last long. I was on the edge all day, the edge of being cold. I probably would have been more comfortable with my leg warmers as it never warmed up during the day. Low 50's and rain doesn't make for a very pleasant ride, but it never rained hard and I had good company.
For the first half, I was riding with Chicago ... in my ears. Terry arrived at the lunch spot just before me so we completed the ride together. He hasn't found a job yet and may be heading back to Sask shortly, much to the chagrin of his girlfriend. He's had some interviews but it's all moving too slowly. Hopefully something will transpire in the next few days.
We finished the ride around 6:40 and by 7:00 I was on the way home, via Subway. I hadn't had much to eat or drink all day. A half-sandwich at lunch and, believe it or not, a coffee, a hot chocolate and a couple of sips of one water bottle. The coffee and hot chocolate came at 45 and 25 miles to the end. You'd think that I would be cramping but it was so cool and wet that I wasn't sweating much.
Home at 9:20, I had some snacks and hit the sack by 10:00.
Today ... Mass then organize and pack. Tomorrow, Monday, we'll head to Miami and Ecuador. Jim and Sheryl will arrive sometime today, out of their Ormond Beach rental. They're staying here while we're gone with Jerry taking over dog sitting next weekend. They've got a beautiful week coming up -- 75, 76, 78, 82, 79 -- so that's good.
Onward !
