May 26 - a month off the bike ?

That's what riding on these rough roads feels like after spending 5 days traveling.  I was wiped.  The 400k this coming Saturday will be a challenge ... of course the predicted cool temps and rain won't help either.  Why am I doing this anyway ? Fun ?  Oh yeah, for fun.

It was a glorious day, sunny and warm.  Sandy and Zoe were outside, both wearing their bug jackets, when I left.  I opted to ride Osprey Road rather than driving to Ess Narrows ... with the fenders on the bike the drivetrain doesn't get as dirty.  Besides, it's good practice for the 21kms of gravel that will be on the 600k.

Speaking of the 600k, it looks like we've got 8 riders including me.  We're going to reverse the planned direction, going counter clockwise north from Barrie, west on 522, south to Parry Sound and back to Barrie.  The plan is that we'll stop, eat and sleep here.  I'm going to check out parts of the route on Friday as I drive down to Barrie for the 400k.  This will be an adventure for sure !  Vaune is talking about pillow fights ... not me !

I've got three signed up for the 400k rain-fest.  More fun :).

It's raining now or at least dripping outside.  I've got to clean the gutters as they're no doubt full of pine needles.  I'm hoping that it's clear enough later for me to get the Christmas lights and tarps off the gazebo.

We do our annual roads tour at 10am -- Dean Martin (MTO), me, Pat Martin, Randy Walsh and Peggy Whitehead (Sec/Treas).  Normally the S/T wouldn't come along but I want her to see the roads firsthand.

Onward ... I hope !
