Jun 1&2 - days in the life

David stayed for a long weekend and helped me with a couple of things, cleaning the gutters and loading Jim Matthew's table saw onto his little trailer.  Jim came up yesterday and we moved the saw from the little trailer to the big, loaded the little trailer onto the big as well, and then he and South-River-Jim left.  SR-Jim has purchased the table saw and it was stored at the Matthew's former house (seems strange to say that).

The table saw is a real antique with a cast frame on a wooden bench, separately mounted motor and belt-driven.  It weighs a ton !

Yesterday I tackled the grass, getting the weed eater going, as always, with some quick-start.  Once started it runs well but always needs prompting.  I've now ordered the DR walk-behind version, electric start, that will be delivered to Reading tomorrow.  The carried string cutter might still have a place in my life but the other will be my mainstay for keeping the yard under control.  Now the question is -- do I need to take the trailer to Reading ?  I'm betting "yes" but we'll see.

Yesterday I also did a bunch of bike maintenance, cleaning sand from Florida and the recent mud run on Clear Lake Road during the 400k.  I removed the cassette, cleaned and tightened.  Pete Dusel pointed out an on-the-road tool for cassette removal and installation, which I've now ordered.  I'm still figuring out what to do about a rear bag.  I need to buy something that works better than what I have now which was more appropriate for a carry-all bag vs supplemental.

We've been killing literally hundreds of mosquitoes in the house.  My little electrified tennis racquet is getting a lot of use.  There were so many that I wondered if they were getting in somewhere and checked all the windows.  I guess that it was two days ago that they peaked outside and were coming in the house in droves on Abby and whenever a door was opened.

It's been cool in the morning -- 41F this morning -- but warm during the day.  The lake was glassy calm most of the day yesterday with a bit of a breeze later on.  Today we have a breeze, will likely pick up as the day goes on.  Perhaps I'll get out for a bike ride -- I really need to !

The girls on the deck at the Davies.

Lots of bubbles !  I had bought this two years ago and kept forgetting to bring it out.

Working on Henk's front wheel.  Am I really as thin as I look in this picture ?

Bubbles, bubbles everywhere !
